Having just got back from the ENACTUS Canada National Competition in Toronto, we are here to tell you, that it was incredible! Imagine this: over 70 schools from across Canada, packed into the swanky Intercontinental Hotel, ready to dive headfirst into four incredible days. Student entrepreneurs, leaders, and passionate changemakers were everywhere you looked along with driven faculty and alum working to lift teams up every step of the way.

Each year Enactus SLC launches initiatives aimed at positively improving the community, from creating business ecosystems to repairing electronics to give back to vulnerable members of our local community. Every new semester brings fresh faces and new ideas about how to do “better” in our own little part of the world.  But it doesn’t end here. There is one ritual that most students never really get to see, except for a lucky few. Every year, a body of like-minded people gather to share accomplishments and create memories that will last a lifetime. This is the Enactus Regional Exposition.

From May 5th to May 12th our Enactus St. Lawrence College student team competed against the rest of Canada at the 2022 Enactus Canada Nationals Exposition which was hosted virtually this year. In late September of this year, the in-person element will take place in Toronto where students and faculty members will watch the top-4 teams compete for who represents Canada at Enactus Worlds. At this event, there will be plentiful networking opportunities, career resources, and job fairs with community partners!

The day was Wednesday, the 11th of March. This may be just like any other day for some, but for the members of Enactus St. Lawrence College and some amazing crew members it was almost D-day. As an Enactus chapter that falls into the central Canada region, the regional competition was tomorrow, we had been preparing for this day for months.

In the past 3 years at my time in Enactus SLC which started with an alumnus giving a presentation of their experience with the club and peaked my interest with a sustainability focused project, while volunteering for the project they asked me to present in the Scotiabank EcoLiving Green Challenge, myself in Civil Engineering at the time with a fear of presentations said yes.

There are certain things that happen annually in life of a student. The lively orientations held by colleges and universities, awkward and funny ‘getting-to-know-you’ activities on the first day of class, midterms, and final exams. Although, just because something is part of your everyday routine, doesn’t mean that it isn’t special. On May fourteenth through sixteenth, 2018 our Enactus SLC team travelled to Toronto where we competed at the Enactus Canada Nationals Exposition, where students were brought together to celebrate the achievements from the past year.
