Enactus SLC Takes on Bentley iTwin4Good Challenge, Securing National Success!
Enactus SLC is thrilled to announce the success of its student team, Twinstitutes, at the recent Bentley iTwin4Good Challenge national competition! Led by the dedicated Cesar Hernandez, the team showcased their innovative spirit and commitment to sustainability by creating a groundbreaking digital twin of the Innovation Hub here at St. Lawrence College.
This wasn't just any digital twin. This project aimed to allow institutions to run hands-on academic simulations in a risk-free environment. The current edition of the Twinsitutes project featured on recreation of the impactful "Repair Together" build sprint, held at the Innovation Hub in February 2024. This virtual recreation allows students to experience the sprint firsthand, learning valuable repair skills in a risk-free environment. With newer editions built on Nvidia’s Omniverse featuring an AI assistant guiding you through a virtual replica of the Hub, offering insights and interactive experiences.
Power of Digital Twins for Sustainable Education
The team's vision extends far beyond a single project. They aim to empower other post-secondary institutions across Canada to harness the potential of digital twins for experiential and sustainable learning. Imagine the possibilities: students dissecting complex machinery without the risk of damage, or virtually touring historical sites across the globe.
The Twinstitutes' project embodies the very essence of the Bentley iTwin4Good Challenge: leveraging cutting-edge technology to address real-world challenges and promote sustainable practices. Their dedication and hard work earned them a well-deserved 2nd runner-up trophy at the national competition. `Cesar Hernandez, Project Lead, shares his experience:
"The Bentley iTwin4Good Challenge has been a meaningful and rewarding experience. I have enjoyed the learning and development process that this competition provided. This challenge has created in me a great excitement for developing Digital Twins that offer sustainable and accessible solutions. I want to thank Bentley and Enactus Canada for this wonderful opportunity. I also want to express my endless gratitude to the Innovation Hub at St. Lawrence College for all the priceless support throughout this adventure. It has been an honor to represent St. Lawrence College at the Nationals with the “Twinstitutes” project. I am excited to continue working on this project, which I am sure will have a positive impact on strengthening institutional partnerships and education. I look forward to sharing the evolution of this Digital Twin project!”
Enactus SLC is incredibly proud of the Twinstitutes' accomplishments and excited to see how they will continue to shape the future of sustainable education through the power of digital twins.
