ENACTUS SLC TAKES HOME 2ND PLACE RUNNER-UP AT REGIONALS 2023!
It’s our favourite time of the year again! The Central Canada Regional Exposition is an exciting check-in where we show off some of our ongoing projects, network with other students and faculty, and have a blast! The sudden Ontario snowstorm didn’t stop us as 15 of our students and 3 faculty advisors (Steve Janssens, Jadon Hook, and Cedric Pepelea) of our Enactus SLC team travelled to Mississauga to compete in 2 Impact Challenges; the TD Entrepreneurship Challenge and the Canadian Tire Environmental Sustainability Challenge.
What are the Projects?
TD ENTREPRENEURSHIP CHALLENGE
We presented a new project this year that we felt really captures our drive to unite entrepreneurship and our community – Switchboard. This project is an online platform focused on connecting entrepreneurs to resources in our local community to support them at any business stage. It can be intimidating to start a journey into entrepreneurship, or scale into new areas as a small business. By removing barriers between entrepreneurs and business resources, we can empower Kingston entrepreneurs to reach their full potential and enrich our local communities.
To our extreme pleasure and enthusiasm, we were crowned the 2nd Place Runner-Ups and were able to snap a CLASSIC photo of our team!

CANADIAN TIRE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGE
For our sustainability projects we wanted to highlight our Circular Solutions programming and a larger initiative to create more climate champions in our community - the Climate Action Leadership Program. Circular Solutions looks to build upon and create systems that revolve around the circular economy and how we can better manage our resources holistically, covering a wide range of topics like electronic waste recycling, biodiversity improvements, depaving projects, climate education, DIY sustainability hacks, and training on using the UN SDGs in everyday life.
