Will You Build the Best House?
Join Enactus St. Lawrence College and Cedric Pepelea at the Innovation Hub for a fun and interactive Heat Loss House Workshop! Learn about energy efficiency and sustainable building practices while competing to build the most cost-effective and energy-efficient house. Thanks to the Innovation Hub for making this event possible!
What is the Heat Loss House?
The Heat Loss House is a hands-on learning tool that lets you experiment with different building materials and designs to see how they affect heat loss. You’ll work in teams, using real materials, to make decisions about wall thickness, window panes, insulation, and more, all while balancing cost and energy efficiency. Gain a deeper understanding of heat loss and its impact on sustainability through this engaging activity.
What to Expect:
Hands-on building: Construct your own miniature house using real building materials.
Teamwork: Collaborate with your peers to design and build the most efficient house.
Competition: Your house's heat retention will be monitored over five days, with the winning team announced the following Monday (November 4th).
Prizes: The team with the most energy-efficient house wins a $25 gift certificate to St. Larry's Pub!
Expert guidance: Learn from Cedric Pepelea, the creator of the Heat Loss House.
