Corrections Canada and St. Lawrence College students will be the Enactus St. Lawrence College (SLC) program Manage Your Money this November. St. Lawrence College Community and Justice Services, Behavioural Technology and Behavioural Psychology students will deliver Manage Your Money to outgoing inmates.
Manage Your Money is a financial literacy program that was developed to teach financial fundamentals such as banking and borrowing techniques, budgeting, taxes and more. This program presented in November at the National Conference for Financial Literacy held by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC). Manage Your Money’s successful track record lead to it being added to the Canadian Financial Literacy Database.

Such initiatives are key to increasing Canadians’ knowledge, skills and confidence in making informed financial decisions.”said Jane Rooney, Financial Literacy Leader.
Through their partnerships, Enactus SLC and Corrections aim to better prepare inmates for a stable and successful financial future to aid as a foundation for their reintegration into the community.

Our students will have the opportunity to go beyond the theory and be part of creating new approaches while working alongside professionals and they will be evaluating the effectiveness of the project through applied research projects.” Robin Hicks Associate Dean School of Community Services

Enactus is a community of student, academic and business leaders enabling progress through entrepreneurial action. Students are dedicated to better the Kingston community and empower its residents through applying classroom knowledge and volunteering. The SLC team has been recently placed in top four for their food literacy, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial programs.
